Frequently Asked Questions

What formats do the plug-ins come in?

All of our plug-ins come in VST2, VST3, AU (Audio Unit) and AAX versions.
(VST2, VST3 and AAX for Windows and macOS, AU for macOS only)
*The macOS versions of the plug-ins are 64 bit only.
*The Windows versions of the plug-ins come in both 32 and 64 bit, bundled in the installer.

So the plug-ins support M1 Macs?

We do not officially support M1 yet, but feel free to try the Bob Perry Gate + Demo Bundle first. If it works with your DAW, the full version will work, too.

Do I have to purchase each version (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX) of a plug-in separately?

No. Purchasing a plug-in gives you access to all versions of the plug-in, downloadable either separately, or bundled in an installer.

Where is the direct download link to the free Bob Perry Gate + Demo Bundle?

To obtain a copy of the free Bob Perry Gate + Demo Bundle, click “Add To Cart” on the Bob Perry Gate + Demo Bundle product page. You will be guided through the registration process and will receive the download link via email.
You will also always be able to log in with your credentials and download the files under “My Account / Downloads“.

Are there demo versions available for your products, so that I can test them on my system?

Yes, all demo versions are bundled within the free Bob Perry Gate + Demo Bundle. Feel free to try them out before your purchase.

What are the limitations of the demo versions of your plug-ins?

Our demos are unlimited in time. They will, however, output a random tone at random time intervals. This should give you opportunity to test the feel, sound, and compatibility of the plug-in with your system.

After purchasing and installing the full version of a plug-in, will plug-in instances in my projects automatically upgrade from demo to full versions?

No. The demo versions and full versions of our plug-ins are made to coexist, so projects that incorporate demo versions of our plug-ins will still open with the demo versions. You’ll have to switch to the full versions manually.

When I try to install a plug-in or bundle on my Mac, I get the error message “can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.”

Should this message appear, click OK. Then open System Preferences, select “Security & Privacy”, select “General” and click the button “Open Anyway”.

Where can I download the manuals for your plug-ins?

You can download the manuals for all our plug-ins here: Download Manuals

I purchased Bob Perry Ducker / Bob Perry Ducker 2. Can I upgrade to the Pro version?

Yes. We have a fair Upgrade policy. After purchasing Bob Perry Ducker or Ducker 2, you will receive a coupon code valid for a Ducker Pro 2 purchase, so you only pay for the difference in price. If you have trouble finding your coupon code, look up your order under My Account / Downloads. You will find your upgrade coupon inside your order’s details. If you still cannot find it, please let us know.

I purchased Bob Perry Ducker / Gate Pro / Ducker Pro / Crossfader. Do I have to pay to upgrade to version 2?

Not at all! If you have purchased version 1 one of our paid plug-ins in the past, you will automatically be granted access to download the new version of the respective plug-in. Just log-in under My Account / Downloads. If for whatever reason you don’t see the download link listed for you, feel free to contact us.

How do I know if my DAW has side chain capabilities?

Please refer to the manual of your DAW or download our free demo bundle. If the demo runs properly the full version will do, too.
Note that some “Lite” or “Elements” versions of big DAWs don’t come with side chain support.
Also, Apple GarageBand doesn’t have side chain support.

Can I install purchased plug-ins on multiple systems?

Yes, but we don’t allow running the plug-ins on multiple systems simultaneously. If you need to do so, please purchase multiple licenses. For bulk discounts, please contact us.

Can the plugins internally clip the audio signals?

No. We are using floating point processing to provide over 1500dB of Headroom.

Do I need to gainstage my signals with your plugins?

No, thanks to the headroom. We don’t have clipping/saturation algorithms in our plugins.

Can I pay via Credit Card or Direct Debit?

Yes. Just choose Direct Debit or Credit Card on checkout. These payments are handled by PayPal, but a PayPal account is not necessary for completion of the transaction.

Do I receive an invoice with my purchase?

Yes. You can then always download all your invoices on bobperryaudio.com via My Account / My Orders.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us.
